Course Information
The Simpson Protocol Training is advanced training for Hypnotists on working interactively in the deeper levels and beyond.
Every session you have with a client has a purpose. The purpose of the session can vary depending on the request of the client and their view of the issues that need to be addressed. Frequently, the client will come into their session with a specific idea of what needs to be accomplished to relieve them from the discomfort that has plagued their lives.
Their request is based upon their conscious mind’s understanding of a subconscious issue that has been manifest in their everyday existence. This understanding has become imbedded in their view of their life and has left an impression of its own on the client. To discover or admit the cause of the issue was incorrect can leave a negative impression on the client and make releasing the issue more difficult.
An appropriate analogy could be the election of a candidate who fails to live up to their promises. If he/she has earned your vote, you have given your trust to them. To admit that you were wrong could reflect badly on your judgment. You, through no fault of your own, were incorrect in your vote. Your vote has consequences so to change your mind means you were wrong. The subconscious mind’s overriding purpose is protection. To protect your client, it may well allow them to hold onto false beliefs and ideas.
As experienced hypnotists we have become adept at overcoming this sort of obstacle, but if there were a way to avoid the core of this conflict the client would achieve more satisfactory results. That is where the Simpson Protocol can be of the most benefit. By bringing clients to the deeper levels of hypnosis, the subconscious mind is released from concerns. While the deeper levels was once thought to be a non-responsive level of hypnosis, Ines Simpson’s work has introduced this level as an excellent jumping off point for discovery and release.
With the Simpson Protocol, the client is capable of examining a multitude of levels of mind and addressing them individually. People tend to think of themselves as primarily mental, physical, or spiritual beings. There are many dimensions to each individual human being, but each layer has an effect on all the others. If we have a physical disease, our mental state could suffer. If our spiritual life is challenged, our mental state may compensate. Life is in many ways a search for balance in turbulent times.
With the Simpson Protocol, a ringleader of sorts (The Superconscious Mind) is placed in charge of the different aspects/levels of mind and given the ability to balance them to achieve great harmony and congruence within the client. In addition to the client doing work at the deepest level, the judgmental conscious mind is intentionally moved to the side. Because the client is not reliant on the hypnotist to create the change work, they take greater ownership of the process and release the identified issues more completely and holistically.
The metaphor I tend to use is that of a garden. When we are working with the client’s subconscious mind, we are walking in their garden. Each step, each word, each inflection can leave an impression on the field. The less intrusive we are in the client’s healing work, the greater the client’s ability to change, release or modify the issue. When you become too intrusive and prevent the client from moving forward, you are practicing what Gerald Kein called, “shoot yourself in the foot hypnosis.”
With the Simpson Protocol, the hypnotist follows a pattern of general questions which allow the client’s Superconscious Mind to fill in the blanks in the least intrusive way possible. However the client has assembled his past experiences to construct the obstacle/issue, they become capable of pulling it apart and returning to a healthier future. The hypnotist may not even know what issue is being released. They are merely asking the client to go to different areas where beneficial work could be done. The hypnotist’s preconceptions, beliefs and opinions that may not be in concert with the way the client’s subconscious views the world are left out of the equation.
The events in the client’s existence have left specific grooves in the record of their life. The subconscious mind has taken those events and categorized them putting them in the most appropriate place to build the foundation of their worldview. By allowing the client to get to these deeper levels they see the foundation and determine where it needs to be reconstructed.
The client does not need to openly repeat the events that caused the damage or admit to parts of their life that could have created guilt or shame. The guilt, shame, and punishment that are causing the damage are frequently interconnected with the issue that needs to be released. By separating them and using the Superconscious Mind to understand how releasing the issue is for the client’s greatest good, the change process becomes more organic and holistic for the client.
As the client moves through the Protocol, small changes and movements of barriers lead to getter more profound releases until the largest most difficult issues are removed.
After the major work is done, the hypnotist creates triggers that allow their client to quickly and easily go back into these deeper more productive levels.
In 25 years as a hypnotist, I have yet to heal a client. The Simpson Protocol creates an easier template to allow them to heal themselves.
